Fully understand the economics of home building or remodeling. Learn how to monitor mateiral and labor costs. Know where the money is coming from and going to before the job starts. Not after the home is complete.
As a small business, one of the most important things you can is to position your company to price and sell appropriately towards your goals, and to manage the risks that will arise through proper assessment and realistic projections. Regardless of your sales strategy or presentation model, understanding what it costs to be in business, beyond just what it costs to build or place your product, is the critical and often overlooked place to start.
